CACI Salutes Martin Luther King, Jr.
On this day honoring a great American, CACI looks back to August 28, 1963 and an event that forever changed our nation. From the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., Martin Luther King, Jr. raised his voice to deliver one of the most eloquent, heartfelt, and emotionally charged speeches in our nation's history.
His "I Have a Dream" oration reverberated among the hundreds of thousands of people gathered before him and served as a rallying cry to galvanize supporters for racial equality.
Consider some of what he said that day:
"And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.
I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: 'We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal.'"
It was a speech for the ages from a giant of whom it can truly be said, "He made a difference to America." Today, CACI salutes Martin Luther King, Jr. and the indelible impact he had on our nation.
